Do I need to be a student to attend your classes?
No, you do not need to be a student or even a member of the University of Cambridge to attend our classes. They are open to all members of the public.

Do I need to be a member to attend your classes?
Membership is not required to attend classes, though it does entitle you to discounted class prices. To find out more, click here.

Do I have to sign up beforehand?
All of our regular classes are run on a drop-in basis, with no need to sign up beforehand.

How do I pay for classes?
You pay at each class you attend. There will be a committee member at the start or end of every class to collect money.

I have never done ballet before - can I still join?
Yes, absolutely! Complete beginners are always welcome at our beginner ballet classes.

I used to do ballet but stopped some time ago, which class would be best for me?
Depending on how much experience you have, we would recommend that most people attend an improvers class when returning to ballet after a long break. You can then adjust your level if necessary. If you would like more advice, please contact us.

What should I wear for classes?
There's no special uniform, so feel free to wear whatever's comfy! If you're starting ballet for the first time we'd recommend leggings or tracksuit trousers with a comfortable t-shirt. You can wear socks for your first few lessons, but if you decide to carry on with ballet it's best to get some flat ballet shoes, in leather or canvas, with elastic straps rather than ribbons. If you want to buy a leotard we'd recommend a simple black one, as a black leotard is a useful basic for ballet shows (here is an example).

If you do need to buy any dancewear, Ballet Club members can benefit from a 10% discount at Attitude, using the loyalty card that will be given to you when you buy your membership.

Can I start pointe work?
If you would like to start pointe work, please attend the beginning pointe classes in your flat shoes first, so that the teacher can evaluate your strength and decide if you are ready to start pointe.

May I take photos or videos of classes or rehearsals?
Sorry, but for both legal and privacy reasons, photography and videography of classes or rehearsals are prohibited without prior approval from a committee member and the consent of all involved.
